First verify that your hardware setup is able to run Moments
Moments supports all recent CPUs and GPUs with up-to-date drivers. If you are running older CPUs and GPUS, make sure that you're running above the minimum specs as outlined below:
• OS: Windows 10/8.1 (check Windows Settings > About this PC)
• CPU (check Windows Settings > About this PC)
o Intel Core I5-2xxx or newer
o AMD FX-4xxx processor or newer
• Network: Broadband Internet Connection
• GPU(check Windows Settings > About this PC)
o NVIDIA GeForce 960 or newer
o AMD Radeon HD 7870 or newer
o Intel HD 4000 or newer
• HDD Space: 500MB
• Video RAM: 2GB
• RAM: 8GB (check Windows Settings > About this PC)
If your hardware meets these specs and are still unable to run moments, then you may need to update your CPU or GPU drivers in order for Moments to support your setup.
Please follow directions for your particular hardware to upgrade to the latest drivers. After updating, restart Moments by right-clicking the SteelSeries GG icon in the Windows system tray and relaunch your game to attempt clipping once more.
Restart Moments if you are still unable to run or capture
Verify that Moments is properly detecting and capturing your game
After starting your game, moments will be ready for recording in the background if "Capturing <GAME>" appears in the Moments Gallery
A recording indication will also appear on the SteelSeries Logo in the Windows System Tray when Moments is ready to record:
If Moments is not properly detecting your game for capture, then check out the ‘Moments isn’t detecting my game’ FAQ for details on how to troubleshoot.
Check your hotkey shortcut is properly setup
The default shortcut for capturing a clip in Moments is Alt+S
You can check and edit the current shortcut in GG settings > Moments Section > Shortcuts:
Turn on elevated permissions for Moments
Certain games run using a mode called "elevated permissions" that can prevent Moments from capturing clips. With elevated permissions, the game can allocate system resources in a way that maximizes game performance.
In order to capture games using this mode, you can run Moments with elevated permissions. To enable, go to GG Settings > Moments Section > Capture and Sound and set the ‘Capture with elevated permissions’ toggle to ‘On’.
Once on, restart Moments by right clicking the SteelSeries GG icon in the Windows system tray and your game and try clipping again.
Verify that Windows Game Mode is off
Windows game mode was introduced a number of years ago to provide a performance boost for games.
There have been numerous instances where game mode causes both game and capture issues. To verify that Windows game mode is off, go to Windows Settings > Gaming > Game Mode, and check the Game Mode toggle is "off".
