Should I use Engine EQ or Sonar EQ?
Both can level up your audio but they’re built for different setups.
What is Engine EQ?
Engine EQ applies EQ settings directly to your SteelSeries device.
It’s a great pick if you:
- Play on console or mobile
- Want simple, consistent sound across every app
- Prefer a more plug-and-play setup
What is Sonar EQ?
Sonar EQ is a PC only app. The app gives you more control by letting you tune audio separately for:
- Game
- Chat
- Media
- Microphone
Sonar also allows you to pick and choose which device can be used with each Sonar Virtual Audio Device.
Can I use both EQs at the same time?
It’s best to use only one EQ system at a time. Running both Engine EQ and Sonar EQ can cause conflicts, double-processing, or audio that just doesn’t sound right.
Which one should I choose?
- Gaming on PC and want maximum control? Go with Sonar EQ.
- Gaming on console/mobile or want an easy setup? Choose Engine EQ.
