It depends!
The Xbox Series X, PS5, and Nintendo Switch do support keyboard input for use in text input and non-gaming apps. For more information:
- Xbox: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/accessories/mouse-keyboard
- PlayStation: After plugging in the device, go to Settings > Devices
The Nintendo Switch does not have any configuration settings for keyboards, but they will still work when text input is required.
Can I use my custom configuration on console?
If your keyboard supports on-board profiles, the following will work:
- Keypress Bindings
- Mouse Bindings
Macros do not save to the device.
Does my keyboard work in this specific game?
You will need to contact the game developer directly and ask if they allow keyboards to be used when playing on console. In many cases, the game developer will have disabled keyboard input for their games. In cases where using a keyboard is allowed, please be aware that you may be placed in game matches with other users who use keyboards, as it's considered an unfair advantage over users with controllers. Please respect the game developers decision if they do not allow keyboard input on console!
