How to Set Up ChatMix in SteelSeries Sonar
- Open SteelSeries GG and navigate to Sonar → Mixer.
- Select your preferred headset as the playback device for both the Game and Chat channels.
- Set SteelSeries Sonar – Gaming as your default Windows audio output.
- Set SteelSeries Sonar – Chat as the output device in your communication app (such as Discord).
- Use the ChatMix slider in Sonar to adjust the balance.
Important: Both channels must use the same physical playback device for Sonar ChatMix to work.
Using ChatMix Through Your Headset
Some SteelSeries headsets feature a physical ChatMix wheel or controls on their GameDAC or transmitter.
When properly configured in Sonar, supported headsets allow you to adjust the game and chat balance directly from the device.
Note: On supported Nova 7 headsets, the Sonar ChatMix slider may become grayed out when control is assigned to the headset's physical wheel.

Xbox: Compatible Xbox-specific headsets, such as the Nova 7X, support ChatMix directly through the headset's physical wheel without requiring Sonar.
PlayStation 5: SteelSeries hardware ChatMix is not supported directly. Instead, adjust the voice chat balance through the PS5's built-in party chat settings.
Can I use ChatMix with a non-SteelSeries headset?
Yes! Sonar supports compatible third-party audio devices. Select the same playback device for Game and Chat in Sonar to use the software ChatMix slider.
Why isn't my ChatMix working?
