If you are unable to complete a firmware update, try the steps below in order:
- If you have access to a second computer, try the firmware update on the backup machine.
- Quit and restart SteelSeries GG
- Fully uninstall and reinstall SteelSeries GG
- Restart your PC
If the issue continues:
- Switch USB ports between USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 or vice versa
- Plug the device directly into your PC and avoid USB hubs
- Temporarily disable any VPN or firewall software, as these can block the update
- If you're using an Xbox headset, make sure the dongle is set to the USB side.
**If you come across this issue on your Mac. Add the SteelSeriesEngine.exe and SteelSeriesEngineClient.exe to your exclusions list to see if the firmware update will be successful? You may have to reboot after making these changes. Then, try launching the Engine software again to do the firmware update.**
- Add SteelSeriesEngine.exe and SteelSeriesEngineClient.exe to your security exclusions
- Restart your Mac after adding the exclusions
- Launch SteelSeries GG again and retry the firmware update
