Why is my microphone so loud when using Sonar?
Under certain situations, some communication software might apply their own voice boost on your voice. If your volume during your session is louder than it should, check your mic volume Level in Sonar. In the mixer tab you can adjust the volume of the Sonar VAD itself or the “level” which is your mic volume in Windows.
How do I reduce noise picked up around me by my microphone?
Try using noise gate. The noise gate will totally cancel any sound under the volume level you set. Check the peak meter in the mixer tab when you are not talking to see what's the level of the noise. Then use that value in the noise gate. Make sure this value is not close to your voice volume otherwise the noise gate will also cancel your voice.
You can also try the background noise reduction. In a quiet environment, those settings should be set to low values. Setting them to high values could lead to voice distortion.
What is the best noise gate level I should set for a balanced mic?
