How Moments Capture Works
Moments detects your games by scanning the game launchers installed on your PC, like Steam, Origin, or the Xbox app. When you launch one of these games, Moments notices it and will start capturing it.
- Auto capture – starts a game capture session, and default to screen capture if game capture is rejected. This mode is the default, since it will result in the best possible game performance while giving highest likelihood of successful captures.
- Game capture – starts a game capture session and stop if rejected. Game capture will ‘hook’ into the game, and get the video and audio directly from the game window. Certain games block game capture, but game capture generally gives slightly better performance than screen capture.
- Screen capture -- starts a screen capture session, and stop if the screen can’t be captured. Screen capture doesn’t require getting the footage directly from the game, so it is much more flexible for different types of games.
