If the mute button on your Arctis Nova Pro Wireless is not responding correctly, keeps your microphone muted, or seems to register more than one press, try the steps below.
1. Check & clean the physical mute button
Press the Microphone Mute Button a few times and check whether it moves and clicks normally.
Make sure there is no dust or debris around the button. You can gently clean around it using a dry, soft cloth or compressed air.
Avoid using liquids or inserting sharp objects around the button.
If the button feels physically stuck, loose, or noticeably different from normal, skip to Still having trouble? below.
2. Make sure the mute states are not conflicting
The Nova Pro Wireless can also report and control microphone mute status through the Base Station.
Check the Base Station display and make sure the microphone is shown as unmuted, then press the mute button on the headset once and test again.
If the headset and Base Station have ended up with different mute states, toggling them back to an unmuted state can get your comms back in sync.
3. Check SteelSeries GG
Connect the Base Station to your PC and open SteelSeries GG → Engine.
Select your Arctis Nova Pro Wireless and check whether any firmware update is available.
If an update is offered, install it before testing the mute button again.
You can also temporarily close SteelSeries GG completely and test the mute button again. This helps determine whether the behavior is coming from the headset itself or from software controlling the microphone state.
4. Reset the Base Station
If the mute state still seems stuck or behaves unexpectedly:
- Press the large wheel on the Base Station.
- Go to System Settings → Reset.
- Select Yes and follow the on-screen instructions.
After the reset, test the mute button again.
5. Test on another device
If possible, connect the Nova Pro Wireless to another PC or compatible system.
Test whether the mute button behaves the same way there.
If the button works normally on another system, the issue is more likely related to the original system or software configuration. If the same behavior follows the headset, we may be looking at a headset-side issue.
Still having trouble?
If the mute button, does not physically click or move correctly, remains completely unresponsive, or continues malfunctioning after the steps above, then the button or internal switch may require further inspection.
Please contact SteelSeries Support and let us know exactly how the mute button behaves. If possible, include a short video showing the issue — it can help us get straight to the boss fight instead of replaying the tutorial. 🎮
