The side buttons are used to help you react faster in-game.
They are designed to be quickly pressed, and it allows you to reset your thumb to quickly maneuver your mouse at the same time. This type of layout helps balance the workload between your left and right hand so you can react faster and move quicker in any game you play.
When opening up a game, you can change the keybinds to one of your mouse buttons in the settings. The side buttons are usually associated with Mouse Button 3 & 4. This can change depending on the amount of side buttons your mouse has.
