If your ChatMix wheel isn’t adjusting the game and chat balance, don’t worry — it’s usually a quick fix.
Step 1: Check Sonar’s control
Sonar automatically takes control of ChatMix when it detects a headset with a physical ChatMix wheel.
If you see the digital ChatMix slider grayed out in Sonar, that’s good — your hardware dial is in control.
If the slider is not grayed out, Sonar is still managing ChatMix digitally. Try re-selecting your headset as the Playback Device in Sonar or restart the SteelSeries GG software from the system tray.
Step 2: Reconnect your devices
Re-plug your wireless dongle while Sonar is open.
Make sure both Game and Chat channels have the correct playback device selected.
Confirm that apps are properly assigned in Sonar (for example, Discord → Chat channel).
Your setup should look like this:
1️⃣ Playback device: Headphones (Arctis Nova 7X or Nova 7X Gen 2)
2️⃣ Apps: Discord or your chat app under the Chat channel
Step 3: Confirm device selection
Your headset must be selected as a playback device in Sonar for the physical ChatMix wheel to work.
If another device is selected for either Game or Chat, the physical wheel will stop responding.
💡 Tip: You can drag apps between the Game and Chat channels — but only apps currently producing sound will appear.
Still not working? Try performing a factory reset using the hardware reset button under the right ear cup.
