Some of our Arctis Nova headsets include a built-in volume limiter designed to help protect your hearing by limiting maximum audio output. This feature may be enabled by default to comply with regional hearing-safety regulations.
If your headset sounds quieter than expected, you can check whether the volume limiter is enabled through SteelSeries GG.
How to Check Your Volume Limiter Settings
- Download and install the latest version of SteelSeries GG on your PC or Mac.
- Connect your Arctis Nova headset to your computer.
- Open SteelSeries GG and navigate to the Engine tab.
- Select your headset from the list of connected devices.
- Under the Audio tab, locate the Volume Limiter setting, typically found in the bottom-right corner.
- If your model supports this option, you can toggle the volume limiter On or Off.
- Click Save to apply your changes.
If you disable the limiter, you may notice an increase in your headset's maximum volume.
Important: Before testing the new settings, lower your headset volume to avoid unexpectedly loud audio.
Can I Adjust the Volume Limiter Using the Arctis Companion App?
On supported Arctis headsets, you may also be able to manage the audio limiter directly through the Arctis Companion App.
- Open the Arctis Companion App on your mobile device.
- Connect to your compatible headset.
- Navigate to your headset's device settings.
- Locate the Limiter setting.
- Adjust the setting according to your preference.
Available options may vary depending on your headset model and firmware version.
Important: Protect Your Hearing
SteelSeries recommends keeping the volume limiter enabled to help protect your hearing.
Disabling the limiter may allow your headset to produce significantly louder audio, potentially increasing the risk of hearing damage, particularly during extended listening sessions.
Please keep the following in mind:
- Prolonged exposure to high volume levels can cause permanent hearing damage.
- Avoid increasing the volume beyond comfortable listening levels.
- Take regular breaks during extended gaming or listening sessions.
- If you choose to disable the limiter, you assume responsibility for the risks associated with higher audio output.
Your hearing matters! ๐งก We recommend using the lowest comfortable volume level for a safe and enjoyable audio experience.
