If you've noticed that your SteelSeries headset sounds quieter on your PS5 compared to your PS4, this may be related to the console's audio settings.
The PS5 manages headphone volume independently, so your volume settings may differ between consoles.
How to Increase Headset Volume on PS5
- Turn on your PS5 and connect your SteelSeries headset.
- From the PS5 home screen, navigate to Settings.
- Select Sound → Volume → Headphones.
- Adjust the Headphones volume slider to your preferred listening level.
- Test your headset in a game or party chat to check whether the volume has improved.
Quick tip: You can also access headphone volume controls by pressing the PS button on your controller, selecting Sound from the Control Center, and adjusting the headphone volume there.
Still Experiencing Low Volume?
If your headset still sounds quieter than expected, try the following:
- Check your headset's volume wheel: Make sure the physical volume control isn't set too low.
- Review your game and chat audio balance: Check that your audio balance isn't reducing the sound you want to hear.
- Check your game's audio settings: Some games have independent volume controls for effects, dialogue, and voice chat.
- Reconnect your headset: Disconnect the USB connection and reconnect it to your console.
Keep in mind that audio output levels may differ between PS4 and PS5 due to their individual audio configurations.
Important: Protect Your Hearing
Prolonged exposure to loud audio can lead to permanent hearing damage. When increasing your headphone volume, start at a lower level and gradually adjust it until you're comfortable. We also recommend keeping any built-in volume limiter enabled, if your headset supports one.
