Here are a few things you can check to get your Nova 3 Wireless sounding crystal-clear again:
Check Your Sonar Settings (if using SteelSeries GG)
If you’re using Sonar for game and chat mixing:
Open SteelSeries GG > Sonar.
Make sure the Game and Chat devices are active and selected as default in Windows.
Try switching off Spatial Audio temporarily to see if it improves clarity.
Play with the Parametric EQ — some presets might make vocals or highs sound muffled depending on your headset profile.
Check in the Gear tab if the headset is up to date - if there is a firmware update available, try performing it.
⚠️ Tip: If you're not using Sonar, make sure it's disabled or uninstalled so Windows doesn’t route sound through it unnecessarily.
🔌 Try a Different USB Port or Elevate the Dongle
Sometimes USB interference can mess with your wireless signal.
Plug the dongle into a different USB port — preferably on the back of your PC or away from other wireless devices.
If you're on a laptop or console, try using a USB extension cable to elevate the dongle — keeping it closer to your headset and away from metal surfaces.
This improves line-of-sight and reduces signal disruption. Wireless magic works best without obstacles!
Disable Windows Sound Enhancements
Windows likes to be helpful... but sometimes it's too helpful.
Go to Control Panel > Sound > Playback tab.
Right-click on Nova 3 Wireless and choose Properties.
Head to the Enhancements tab.
Tick the box that says "Disable all enhancements" - even if none of the other options are turned on.
Apply and test again.
🛠 Perform a Hardware Reset
If nothing else works, give your headset a clean slate.
Remove the left ear cushion.
Look for a tiny hole underneath.
Use a paperclip or SIM tool to press and hold the reset button inside for about 1–2 seconds.
Put the cushion back and power the headset on again.
This won't wipe any software settings, but can fix odd hardware behavior.
Still Muffled?
