The Nova 3 Wireless features a detachable 3.5mm boom microphone, offering flexibility and clean audio - but if your mic isn’t working, here are a few steps to get you back in the game:
1. Check the Mic Connection
Make sure the microphone is fully inserted into the 3.5mm mic port. It should click securely into place - loose connections can cause mic issues or complete loss of input.
2. Check the Mute Button 🔇
Make sure the mic isn’t muted physically or digitally in your device settings.
3. Check Sonar Setup
If you're using SteelSeries GG with Sonar, follow these steps:
-
Open SteelSeries GG and go to the Sonar tab.
-
Click on the Microphone section.
-
Make sure "Input Device" is set to your Nova 3W
- Go to your Sound Mixer settings and make sure that your input device is set to SteelSeries Sonar Microphone.
You can also disable Sonar temporarily to check if the same issue will be present without it. If the issue is not present with Sonar anymore, the issue may be software related.
Just make sure to adjust your default sound devices in the Windows Volume Mixer Settings after turning Sonar off (swap from Sonar devices to your SteelSeries device).
The option to disable Sonar can be found under the General app settings:
4. Test the Mic only
Try plugging the mic only into the same or another device with a 3.5mm port. If the microphone works there, the issue may be with the headset 3.5 mm port or with the software side of your PC or console. If this is the case, please reach out to our Support team for further steps.
